Brian Bigras - Managing Partner Canada

Prior to joining Sotera Investigative Group Inc., Brian provided 32+ years of exemplary service with York Regional Police (YRP). He retired as Deputy Chief of Investigations and member of the Executive Command Team responsible for leading a workforce of nearly 2,500 members with budgets in excess of 370 million annually.


As Deputy Chief of Investigations, Brian led and provided strategic oversight to YRP’s Intelligence Bureau, Organized Crime Bureau, Major Crimes Bureau, and the Special Investigations and Support Bureau.


Well known for his commitment to public safety and community well-being, Brian focused his career on professionalism, people and partnerships. His passion and focus ensured that all investigations were conducted professionally, thoroughly, and beyond reproach. Clients can count on his experience, expertise, and personal commitment to deliver results-driven service.


As Deputy Chief, Brian represented YRP in numerous forums including the Greater Toronto Area Integrated National Security Enforcement Team, the RCMP-led Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, the Provincial Anti-Terrorism Section, the Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit, the Greater Toronto Area Organized Crime Commanders Team, the Canadian Associations of Chief’s of Police (CACP) Organized Crime Committee, the CACP Counter-terrorism and National Security Committee, and the Canadian Integrated Response to Organized Crime Committee.


Brian continues to work tirelessly to strengthen community partnerships, working closely with numerous community organizations, including the Southlake Hospital Foundations Board, Addiction Services Central Ontario, and the B'nai Brith Special Advisory Council to the League for Human Rights.


He holds a Masters of Arts in Leadership from Royal Roads University, is a graduate of the University of Toronto, Rotman School of Management, Executive Police Leadership Program and the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police Global Studies Program amongst other academic achievements.


Brian is the recipient of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces from the Governor General of Canada honouring his exceptional service, merit and contributions to policing and the community. He has also received the 20 Year Police Exemplary Service Medal and 30 Year Bar.
